Best healthy food delivery services from restaurant delivery to produce, meal kits, snacks, staples, and alcohol. Something for everyone | TastingPage.com #delivery #mealkits #healthyfood #diet #health #wellness

We’re in unprecedented times right now.

Social distancing is the new norm, but here’s the thing, we still get hungry. The inventory at grocery stores can be hit or miss, so what are you supposed to do for food?

In Los Angeles, like many other cities, you can’t go eat a meal at a restaurant or bar. Luckily you can order food-to-go, and that’s also a great way to support local businesses while getting a delicious meal.

So I’ve pulled together some of the best healthy food delivery services so you can eat well while staying indoors and keeping your body strong. Just be sure to check that the services are available where you live. There may also be longer than normal delays, so plan ahead.

I’ve included a range of options so you can enjoy restaurant food when you don’t feel like cooking, meal kits when you feel like tinkering in the kitchen, and ready to go meals when all you want to do is heat something up.

And I’m not going to let you go without some healthy snacks to tide you over between meals. I even have included a drink delivery service because I do realize you may want to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine with your dinner. If you need any reminders on healthier drinking, have a read.

The good thing is that these healthy food delivery services all have something for every diet. There are vegan, gluten free, and paleo options so you can keep your body and mind strong while you’re stuck at home.

Best Healthy Food Delivery Services

Restaurant Delivery

When you don’t feel like heading out for dinner, bring it in.

There are many restaurant delivery apps now that cover a lot of the big name locations, and even some of the smaller neighborhood ones as well.

You can contact a lot of restaurants directly, or use a restaurant delivery service like Postmates.

Grubhub is another popular restaurant delivery service.

All you do is go online or to their app and see what restaurants are offering delivery.

You pull up a menu, place an order online, and voila restaurant food at your house.

You can usually find a special offer and many different delivery options including non-contact, leave at the door drop-off.

If you haven’t tried any of the restaurant delivery services before, you’ll likely get discounts so try a few to find the deal and food you like best.

Other restaurant delivery services include: Caviar, Doordash, and Uber Eats.

Meat and Fish Delivery

With or without a pandemic, I use these meat and fish delivery services all the time.

I like the quality. I always say if you’re going to eat meat and fish, make sure you eat the best quality you can.

Hormones and toxins can live in conventional meat and fish that aren’t well-sourced, so it’s important to buy from responsible retailers. These are my favorites.

Seafood

I eat a lot of fresh fish.

Wild-caught salmon is a great source of Omega-3 essential fatty acid, which is great for overall health.

I’ve been getting the wild-caught salmon and cod from Vital Choice for years now.

They also have canned and pouched seafood which is great to stock up on during any social isolation.

You can make my sardine salad wraps or feel free to swap out sardines for tuna, salmon, or crab.

I will also buy the value pack bags of frozen wild-caught salmon and cod at Whole Foods. Trader Joe’s can sometimes have these available as well.

Meat and Poultry

I always tell people that if they’re going to eat meat, they should look for the best quality. That means organic, grass-fed as you don’t want to be eating any of the hormones, antibiotics, or extras many animals get when they’re conventionally processed.

US Wellness Meats is a great option for quality protein.

You’ll find all the things you’re looking for in healthy meat like grass-fed, sustainably raised, 100% grass-fed and finished.

Of course, you’re not going to find any antibiotics, hormones, or GMO feed in the products you buy at US Wellness Meats.

They have everything from traditional steaks and burgers to briskets, ribs, organ meat, sausages, bacon, and even seafood.

Butcher Box is another good option for humanely raised meat without added hormones or antibiotics. They do online monthly deliveries but you can pause and re-start as you like. They may be experiencing a delay right now but you can get on their waiting list for when they resume.

Their beef is 100% grass-fed and finished, as well as pasture-raised. It’s a great source of Omega-3s, vitamins, and minerals. They also have free-range, USDA certified organic chicken, as well as Heritage Breed Pork, and even wild-caught Alaskan sockeye salmon.

Meal Kit Delivery

If you’d like someone else to do the meal prep for you, there’s a few other routes you can take.

Your meals arrive fresh so all you need to do is heat and eat!

Sun Basket uses organic produce and clean ingredients.  These are dietician approved meals so you know you’re going to stay healthy during your shut-in.

You can choose from 3 different meal preparations. There’s oven-ready meals that can be ready in as little as 5 minutes if all you want to do is heat. Or you can get the pre-prepped with all the slicing and dicing done for you. Or go for classic cooking where you get the ingredients and then you follow the recipe to assemble.

And you can choose from meals that are paleo, gluten free, vegetarian, and pescatarian.

Hello Fresh is a meal kit delivery program with chef-created dishes.

You don’t have to lock into a regular delivery commitment if you don’t want to, but you can mix and match and pick your favorite dishes based on meat and veggies or low calorie or family-friendly. It’s all customizable.

You’re sent the ingredients for dishes you choose, and then you play chef in the kitchen with the enclosed recipes.

Winc brings wine to your door.

You start by filling out a short online survey so they can get to know your palate. You’ll tell them things like how you like your coffee, how do you feel about salt, citrus, and berries.
